Is Chris Wood's loan in anyway tied up with us loaning Foster or are they completely seperate?

Totally separate.

Ben is on a 12 month loan to the Baggies, as Boaz is to us.

Chris is on a 6 month youth-player loan.

Sorry if this topic has already been posted, I can't seem to find it if it has though!

He's been off the boil the past 4-6 weeks, but has clearly shown he has goals in him.

As I understood it, Wood's loan contract expired on 5th January. Has there been any mention of this being extended, or will he just go back to WBA?

Cheers.

Talks are ongoing.

Quote:

With N'Daw we're very close to finalising that particular one and with Chris Wood we've been in regular dialogue with West Brom," he added.

N'Daws deal has actually been extended until the end of the season now though. :applause:

We are negotiating with WBA for an extension but I doubt we will have him signed up in time for the Wolves match. Also James Nursey is tweeting that WBA are looking to loan him out to another Championship team, not sure if there is any truth in that but Wood's early season form would have interested some teams higher up in the table.

I expect that we will extend his loan but maybe not till sometime next week.

I hope he stays, but if he wants to move on, and WBA are ok with that, there's not much we can do...

Would like to think he would want to stay, however he may be a bit frustrated as Hughton seems to Favour King and Zigic as starters. If he goes i would like to think we can try and bring somone in that can challenge Zigic and King for a start, may be a mix of experience and pace, Ricardo Fuller would get my vote for a loan until the end of the season, failing that Simon Cox or Fortune from the Albion. What has happened to Adam Rooney, Is it worth sending him out on loan and getting someone in as a replacement too? as he seems no where near getting into the team at the moment?

I'm not overly bothered if he leave tbh. Yeah he went through a spell of scoring a few goals but in all fairness hes been off the boil lately. He seriously lacks pace and I don't see any real quality in his game. Scored that brilliant goal in Bruge tho.

All the best lad! **thumbup

Im not gonna turn on him like ive heard some people do on Twitter and stuff, but to be 100% honest...

Chris Wood gave me one of my favourite moments following Blues, away in Bruges, he also netted some crucial goals including a quality hat-trick vs Millwall. Anyone who scores goals here will be well received due to the lack we've had over the years.

However, and this is the problem with him... as a sub, he doesnt tend to have any sort of impact at all, and if he starts and doesnt get on the scoresheet, he brings little to our play overall really... for a taller player, he's not too good in the air, he's not really strong, lacks any sort of genuine pace, and his first touch isnt the best.

Again, I appreciate all he's done and like the bloke, he seems like a nice lad, but if he goes, he goes, and we have to move on and find someone else.

Great. We need another striker in for sure then...finance permitting.

On the bench for the Baggies today, maybe Hodgeson wants to see how he would fair in the WBA team before sending him out on loan again.

I think Roy will see if Wood is capable of being back up to Odemwingie and Long, if he thinks he is I can see Wood staying and then Cox being sent out on loan. Then hopefully WBA might be willing to loan Cox to us.

Pretty much what Roy just said in his interview, he said that he (Roy) wanted to have a look at him first before sending him out.

Also said on the radio they were intending to sit down with Wood and his agent and see where he wants to go and where would be best for him if he goes back out on loan I hope we get him back to be fair :)

Then Hodgson leaves Wood on the bench for 90 minutes as Simon Cox nets a hat-trick

I was going to mention this! I wouldn't mind Cox on loan he seems like a good player as well.

i started an thread a while ago saying we should try get cox on loan, as he said he was looking for a loan move. apparently he is still looking for one, but i'm not sure if roy will let him go with all their injuries. long term i dont think he has the same potential as wood, but short term (ie this season) i think he would be more useful, especially as he wants a place in the ROI euro 2012 squad...if i was hughton i would look to try get cox, before i looked at extending woods loan

Id love us to get Simon Cox, but I dont think they'd let him go, even though he wants regular football to play for Ireland at the Euros.

In their pecking order upfront by all accounts it seems to be :

Long
Odemwingie
Cox
Wood
Tchoyi
Fortune

So Fortune could become an option possibly, big tough centre forward

Lets be honest they want Wood to be playing week in and week out, If he came back he there is a big chance that wouldn't happen, Zigic and King have been preferred as late and Wood hadn't scored in 13 games or something. They will probably send him to somewhere like Watford where he will play everyweek
